Making a diesel engine based on a gasoline one in a regular garage

There is no point in using power units on simple passenger cars. The opposite opinion is held by drivers working on KamAZ, MAZ and various tractors. It is worth noting that they do not work on their own equipment, but on that provided by the employer. It is not difficult to guess why - state-owned diesel fuel in some cases can be drained and placed where it belongs. Of course, we are talking about the car's fuel tank. If there is an opportunity, why not fill up? But the owners of the companies are not fools either - they are not satisfied with the theft of diesel fuel. Therefore, they control the drivers, fortunately, the equipment allows this.

Is it possible to convert a gasoline engine into a diesel engine on your own? The point is not that it is beneficial. If desired, buying an old heavy-fuel engine is easy and inexpensive. And it still won’t work to make a full-fledged powerful diesel engine - you need high-precision equipment. But for the sake of interest, you can try.
