The very first IZH Jupiter - the restoration of a motorcycle of the 60s "out of the bag"

IZH Jupiter of the first generation appeared back in 1957. It was then called, however, in a different way, and was shown at the World Exhibition in Brussels. The model initially received an index of 58 and was sold like this for several years. But in 1961 it was already renamed "Jupiter". The main difference between the new motorcycle from designers from Izhevsk - two cylinders. An attempt to make a full-fledged competitor to the "Java" from Czechoslovakia. The bike turned out to be more powerful than the "single-barrel" - 18 hp versus 13, respectively. Thanks to the presence of two cylinders, the new motorcycle became faster and more comfortable - it shook less, the engine vibrated less in the frame.

However, it was not without drawbacks. The new model was the first "double-barreled shotgun" in the range of the manufacturer, there were enough flaws. The most important disadvantages are a more complex design and the “capriciousness” of the device. Such an attitude as "Planet", "Jupiter" did not tolerate. But for a "handy" owner who loves technology, he worked without problems. The main thing is to set it up correctly, after which it was possible to ride and enjoy life. In general, "Planet" is more for the village, and "Jupiter" was more of a highway motorcycle. Now it is difficult to find IZH bikes of the 60s in good condition. If such specimens come across, then they ask dearly for them. But if you have the skills, you can buy a motorcycle in the form of a set of spare parts, and return it to the track. This is exactly what the author of the MOTO KOR channel did.
