KAMAZ operates and develops despite a number of economic sanctions

The KAMAZ plant began operating back in the Soviet Union. The first heavy truck rolled off the assembly line in 1976. Now, not everyone remembers that the enterprise appeared thanks to the Moscow ZiL. Moreover, the first KAMAZ was developed by specialists from the Likhachev Plant. By the way, they were going to produce it, but “from above” they ordered otherwise, forcing them to give the promising diesel model to a new, modern enterprise. It is believed that this dealt the first serious blow to ZiL. It was never able to recover from it, which is why it eventually went bankrupt. Although, this is far from a fact. In the early 90s, GAZ's model range was just as outdated, but the enterprise survived. Of course, the main role there was played by the Gazelle. But who prevented ZiL from releasing the same model?

KAMAZ also managed to cope with the problems. This applies not only to the 90s, but also to recent events. Trusting foreign partners, the plant launched the production of a number of modern models. Everything is like abroad - using components and assemblies of foreign production. “In order not to waste time on trifles,” as they said then. By the spring of 2022, a number of foreign partners terminated their agreements with KAMAZ. We had to urgently restore supply chains. I am glad that the management of the plant made the right conclusions and sees the enterprise as independent of foreign supplies.
