The Chinese introduced a new model of a flying machine
Guangdong Huitian Aerospace Technology of China shares a test video of the first Xiaopeng flying machine. Camouflage camouflage does not interfere with the assumption that, without taking into account the “superstructure” with propellers, the car resembles an American Hummer or one of its analogues from the Celestial Empire in shape and dimensions.

In a short test video, the car slowly takes off into the air, moves back and forth a few meters and lands successfully. It is intended that this video should draw attention to the prospects of flying cars. But it does not inspire yet, but only raises more questions.

Pros and cons of construction

The layout of the quadcopter looks like a controversial choice for a vehicle. It is not clear how such a car will move along public roads without clinging to cars from neighboring lanes, traffic lights and even pedestrians walking along the sidewalk along the road with its blades. It remains to be hoped that the designers will think over the mechanism for folding the screws. There is no vertical takeoff capability yet.

In the air, the car looks too unstable. You can see how it sways to the sides. Flight speed also leaves much to be desired. Plus a car in the air makes too much noise and wind. According to these parameters, it can be compared with a full-fledged helicopter.

Finally, you need to think carefully about the issue of security. When moving within the city limits, the screws can cling to wires and advertising structures. And an accident with such a car will be much more destructive than usual. Strength also needs to be improved. In the test video, one of the elements falls off the car body. And, flying away from the propellers, flies off somewhere to the side.

car perspective

Such technology can help special equipment overcome obstacles, but is too raw for full-fledged civilian use. But such “quadcopter cars” can be a great addition to the fleet of rescuers working in areas of landslides, floods and earthquakes.

The line of promising flying machines from the manufacturer does not end with Xiaopeng. Even earlier, the Luhanger X2 was introduced. Work on the prototype has been underway since at least 2020. During this time, the machine has made more than 3 thousand test flights and received certification from the Ministry of Civil Aviation of China.
