Ulyanovsk plant will start assembling Chinese trucks

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, better known to everyone as UAZ, is preparing to produce trucks from China. The governor of the Ulyanovsk region personally announced the cooperation, so there is no reason to doubt the seriousness of the event.


With a high probability, the UAZ plant will act only as an assembly site, where components for Chinese trucks will be brought. The former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg operates according to a similar scheme.


Most likely, trucks with as yet unnamed characteristics will be registered with us under the Sollers brand. Why not "UAZ"? Probably, open and fruitful cooperation is still hindered by the sanctions imposed on Russia.

Details regarding which cars will be assembled at the Ulyanovsk enterprise are promised to be revealed to us in May of this year.

Today, major Chinese auto brands cooperate with almost all assembly plants in Russia. So, GAZ works with Foton, the above-mentioned Sollers, together with KamAZ, found a partner in the person of Jac. Avtotor, located in Kaliningrad, works together with Kaiyi, a subsidiary of Chery. The notorious AvtoVAZ also has a partner, but he has not named him yet.
