GAZ-66 and half-track ZIL-157 - homemade against Soviet classics
When it comes to off-road trucks, they usually remember the models produced in the USSR. If you understand, then new "heroes" in this class over the past 30 years have not appeared. "Urals" are produced, but they do not differ structurally from models from the USSR. Even the Gorky Automobile Plant mastered the new generations of Jaegers and Sadko, but even they are direct descendants of the GAZ-66.

What is good about Soviet off-road equipment? First of all, the fact that it is budgetary in most cases. You can’t buy diesel Ural-4320 cheaply - even the old ones are in demand. But no one really needs gasoline trucks. In some cases, they cost less than UAZ and Niva. Why so, it will become clear after the first off-road trip. Fuel consumption will be from 40 liters for the GAZ-66, to "hundreds" for the Ural-375, or even more.

For some reason, the ZIL-157 and GAZ-66 are most often called the best trucks from the USSR. Although real tests have long proved that it is useless to compete against the diesel Ural-4320. "Shishiga" in such verbal disputes usually becomes a leader. And if you make a ZIL-157 on a half-track? You can see this in the video of the Polygon-98 channel. Light or heavy equipment, tracks or tires? Who will win this battle?
