Lada will show new Vesta and Granta models at Baikal

On the eve of the Baikal Mile sports festival, the AvtoVAZ enterprise will present to the public two cars that have never been seen anywhere before. We are talking about sports modifications of Vesta and Granta cars with the addition of "Sport" in the title.


The first role of the novelty will be tried on by the first Lada Vesta Sport in the station wagon body in the history of the enterprise. The car was built by specialists from the Lada Sport division based on the Vesta SW model. The car will start on the ice of Lake Baikal under the control of Vladimir Sheshenin - this is the team driver from the AvtoVAZ plant.


The company has not yet disclosed the technical details of the novelty. We can only rely on what we know about the original Vesta SW sedan. Previously, a 1,8-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 145 hp was installed on it. With. The car is only available in front-wheel drive with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The second car, which, according to the idea of ​​AvtoVAZ, should conquer the festival visitors, is Lada Granta Sport. Like the first model, she will debut in a liftback body, previously inaccessible to her. We remind you that in the period from 2013 to 2018, the car was available only in sedan format.


Serial Lada Granta Sport cars were delivered to showrooms with a 1,6-liter gasoline engine. It produced 118 hp. With. with a torque of 154 N * m. The transmission is the same 5-speed "mechanics". Also note the reduced ground clearance to give the body a sporty profile, a disc brake system and visual decorative accents.

About the updated liftback "AvtoVAZ" also does not yet give any intelligible information. However, he made promises that a fairly modified car would perform at the Baikal Mile. The plans are to calibrate the engine for higher power and make the suspension stiffer with a smaller range of motion. As planned by the manufacturer, this will improve the handling of the car.

The most interesting thing is that the new Lada Granta Sport is already undergoing factory tests. It is possible that the model will go into mass production and dilute the meager range of our cars so far.


As for the event itself, this year the Baikal Mile festival of speed takes place from March 7 to March 11 directly on Lake Baikal.
