The history of ZiD mopeds - they appeared in the 90s and are still being produced

The Degtyarev Plant is a well-known Russian defense industry enterprise. What does it have to do with motorcycles? The most direct. Who do you think produced the infamous two-wheeled bikes called "Voskhod"? It was ZiD, which mastered motorcycle production in 1946. Although, that same "Voskhod" was a good bike. Although it was inferior in reliability to the "Minsk", it was distinguished by its power and dynamics. Nothing surprising - the engine there is 175 against 125 cm3. And a reliable bike could be made in a few days, if you knew what to improve.

ZiD did not produce mopeds in the USSR. They also had enough motorcycles, which were in demand, although not hype. But the low cost and prevalence still forced rural residents to buy such bikes. "Minsk" were valued higher, but appeared on sale less often. Only in the 90s did ZiD mopeds debut. The decision to release them was forced - it was necessary to urgently modernize the lineup, which is rapidly losing popularity. And for mopeds there was a good time - the rights to them were not yet required. Accordingly, teenagers and those who like to ride “dirty” often purchased them. Moped ZiD had far more than one "Pilot". By the way, now the plant also assembles small-capacity equipment, only it is Chinese. And you will learn the history of mopeds of the Degtyarev Plant from the author of the KrasMoto channel.
