Two out of three idle auto plants in St. Petersburg will be launched this year

Automotive factories in St. Petersburg will soon start producing passenger cars again. This year, two of the three idle enterprises will be launched. What kind of cars will be assembled there is still unknown. But most of them will definitely be directly related to China.


Representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg officially announced that the issue with car factories will be resolved promptly. The country needs domestic passenger cars and they will be assembled.

It should be reminded that enterprises of three well-known world brands are located in St. Petersburg. These are Nissan, Toyota and Hyundai. The first one already belongs to AvtoVAZ. The domestic manufacturer is going to launch the production of new Lada models there, which ones are still unknown.
The Toyota plant is now mothballed. As for the Korean Hyundai, the company is idle.


Representatives of the administration said that within the next 3-4 months it is planned to find new partners. Together with them, cars will be produced. There is information that negotiations are already underway.

The factories of the Toyota and Hyundai brands will also be transferred to one of the domestic companies. The former owners will be able to redeem them subject to a number of conditions. First of all, this is a full-fledged return to Russia and compensation for all financial costs for re-equipment.
