The official presentation of Smart EV will take place on April 7

Smart Automobile representatives announced an upcoming event where the final version of the first electric car Smart. The concept was shown last year, the pre-production model received a number of changes. So, instead of hinged doors, a standard opening scheme will be used. And in the back, instead of two separate seats, there will be a solid sofa, which is much more practical.

Smart #1 is the result of cooperation between two auto giants. Mercedes-Benz, which owns half of the shares, developed the design of the novelty. And the Geely group of companies, which owns the second part of the shares, dealt with the technical aspects.



The car will be based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. At the same time, it uses a number of individual technical solutions that will allow the model to stand out from the general range.

It is already known that the new Smart will be the largest in the history of production. With a length of 4,29 m, the width is 191 cm and the height is 170 cm. The wheelbase of 275 cm is also remarkable, as it is even larger than that of the Mercedes-Benz EQA electric crossover.



The car has smooth contours, in profile it is somewhat reminiscent of a Mini Cooper, but it is our own development in a modern style. car stands out due to the front and rear LED optics. It is made in the form of a solid strip, bifurcating at the edges.

Technical features

To date, there is little data, but some details have nevertheless been leaked. The car will be equipped with a 70 kWh battery, which will provide it with a power reserve of over 320 kilometers. Engine power is still kept secret.



Another important advantage is the minimum drag coefficient - 0,29. This saves energy and improves speed performance. The car has passed a number of tests in a wind tunnel, it has a number of unusual solutions - retractable handles that work normally at temperatures down to -40 degrees and active segments in the radiator grille. The developers promise many interesting surprises in a week.

The start of sales is scheduled for the second half of 2022. Customers in China will be the first to order it, after which the model will be presented in Europe.
