Electric river trams are being tested on the Moskva River
Moscow Department Transport officially announced the start of practical testing of the first electric vessels in Russia. In the future, they will become an important part of a major program to develop the water transport network in the capital and will be used as river trams.
Testing the capabilities of electric watercraft is taking place in the waters of the Moscow River. It was not for nothing that March was chosen to start the tests - it is at this time that you can check how the transport shows itself in cold conditions, while there is a lot of ice on the water surface.

During the test swims, the crews of electric river trams set up the equipment, train in driving, work out such elements as turns and mooring. The skills gained during the training will definitely come in handy when the transportation development program begins to gain momentum.
It is interesting that at the moment even the appearance of electric river trams is kept in strict confidence, not to mention their technical characteristics, capacity and other equally important parameters. Test specimens go out on the water dressed in camouflage.
Representatives of the Moscow Department of Transport report that they are now hiring captains who will stand at the helm of electric ships. It is known that candidates go through a fairly rigorous and serious selection, followed by a long internship.
It should be noted that electric river trams are not the only upgrade that awaits the Moscow transport network in the near future. Another interesting development is unmanned taxis. Just a few days ago, at the legislative level, the use of such vehicles on public roads was allowed. The first unmanned vehicles will run through the streets of Moscow and on the territory of the notorious Skolkovo, and will also appear in Innopolis, the most modern city in the Russian Federation, and will also drive through the territory of Sirius in the Kuban.

Despite the fact that we are talking about unmanned taxis, in Moscow, for now, such cars still need to have a driver, albeit with a lesser degree of interference in the driving process. In other regions, the movement of a car without a driver is allowed. The process of using such transport from the passenger side is similar to a traditional taxi. If the need suddenly arises, the client can contact the operator and get help.
