Car registration in 2022

It's no secret that Russian traffic regulations are changing rapidly and every year, so you just have to keep up with the innovations. And 2022 has brought its own nuances to the formulation car for registration. It seems to be a simple procedure, but questions always arise that need to be answered.

Why register a car?

If it is not registered, it cannot be used: in the traffic police, this event is compared with obtaining a warrant for an apartment - while it is not there, nothing can be done with housing. Car registration simplifies the search for stolen vehicles. Registration of the machine indicates that it has equipment that meets safety requirements. If the machine has equipment that is not provided by the manufacturer, you will have to take a conclusion from special laboratories.

What cars need to be registered?

The procedure is subject to equipment with a motor with a power of more than four kilowatts, capable of moving at a speed of more than 50 km / h. If vehicles, trailers are imported into Russia temporarily, but for more than a year, they are also subject to registration. A citizen of the Russian Federation, a car owner, who is 16 years old, has the right to register a vehicle. You will need a passport, a document on the purchase of a car, title, application. Instead of the owner, legal actions can be performed by a trustee.

When do you need to register?

You have 10 days to make a purchase. During this time, you can drive around without numbers - there will be no fine. But there is a caveat: it is better not to leave such cars in paid parking lots in Moscow, because the car can be evacuated. It's all about the capital's resolution on countering terrorism of 2017. According to him, if the owner of the car cannot be identified, it will be considered dangerous and taken to a special parking lot.

If on the 11th day you are caught on the road without license plates, you will be issued a fine of 500-800 rubles, and when registering a car late, you will have to pay 1,5-2 thousand rubles. In case of repeated violation, you can lose your rights for up to 3 months.

Issuance of a certificate of registration

The STS is valid indefinitely and it is not required to renew it as a right. But there is an exception for persons with temporary registration. As soon as it expires, the car will have to be registered again. You can’t drive without an STS, a fine of 500 rubles. In case of loss, the document will have to be restored, which is not so simple.

Dealer Registration

Some car dealerships provide a registration service. There are a couple of options here:

  • ? registration is handled by a specially trained employee, provided that the store has the necessary permits
  • ? the car is taken to the traffic police on a tow truck and registered there by proxy (i.e. the owner does not concern this matter at all)

The last service will cost at least 10 thousand rubles, but is still in demand.

Public services and MFC

In the first case, you can save 30% of the state duty and time. It is necessary to choose the appropriate traffic police unit and the date of arrival to inspect the car. You can register a car through the MFC only where there is a special site for inspection (addresses - in the "State Services"). The car will be checked by a traffic police officer, and the documents will be issued by an employee of the MFC. He will give you the numbers.
