The assembly of the first ZEN50 electric catamaran has begun
Representatives of ZEN Yachts said that the first copy will be assembled in the European Union and it has already been reserved by the buyer. The company was formed in 2021 in Malta and is developing autonomous sail catamarans to provide good dynamic performance with zero emissions.
The equipment is impressive - the catamaran, designed for 12 people, has two kitchens, 3 dining areas, 2 recreation modules and several bedrooms with separate bathrooms and toilets. To provide an Internet connection anywhere in the world, the Starlink module from SpaceX is installed.
The vessel is powered by a pair of 40 kW brushless DC motors. The capacity of the battery pack is 160 kWh. The roof of the structure consists of solar panels that store up to 16 kW. If you use only solar energy, you can move at a cruising speed of 5 knots per hour.

The new catamaran does not use fuel in any form and all systems are implemented using solar energy. This not only ensures zero emissions, but also increases the ship's autonomy. Everything is limited only by food supplies, as there is a desalination plant on board.
The work is being carried out at one of the docks near Barcelona, it is planned to complete the assembly and launch the model in 2023. Cost data was not reported, since this is a custom version with a number of additional modules. After the completion of work on the first copy, the production of the second will begin, even if there is no buyer at that time. Also announced the presentation of the new model over the coming year.
