Change of inspection rules from September 1, 2022 - what drivers think

Mandatory technical inspection has been cancelled for private vehicles. Only taxis must undergo it, buses, trucks, and private cars older than 4 years when registering and changing the design. In order to further simplify the process and save time, the Russian Government made amendments, the number of checkpoints was reduced from 82 to 55.

Starting in September, the following will no longer be checked:

  • ✅ Leaks of oil and technical fluids from the engine, gearbox and other units
  • ✅ Exhaust system noise level
  • ✅ Condition of brake pipes and hoses
  • ✅ The performance of the glass washer (but the wipers must function)
  • ✅ Fire extinguisher, first aid kit and emergency sign are optional

There will be new checks for tightness of the intake and exhaust systems. Many experts consider the changes illogical and useless, let's see what drivers think about this:

Well, if you control the tightness of the exhaust tract, the noise level actually can not be checked. If there is damage or siphon at the joints, this should still be repaired. But according to the new rules, you can drive with direct currents, as far as I understand. If all the elements are intact, it does not matter that the car wakes up half a block when it starts. This not normal.

– commented Oleg Yakovlevich

A responsible person will not drive a car that is leaking oil. Although we have a lot of drivers who water the asphalt and spoil the environment because they are too lazy to bring the car into a normal technical condition. In general, spending money on changes and improvements when maintenance has become optional is so Russian.

- said Valery S.

If the intake manifold is leaky, it’s not very interesting to drive, the car eats and troit. This can be heard by the sound, but I don’t understand how this affects driving safety. The meaning is incomprehensible, people adapted to one system, again change the order.

If you do not follow the brake pipes and hoses, the risk of an accident will be ten times higher than with an oil or antifreeze leak. Brakes have always been considered a critical system of a car, and now it turns out they are not important?

- said Alexey T.

Decreasing points is good, I agree with some canceled points, not quite with others. Brake pipes and hoses are important, leaks can be, but not critical, and it’s not safe to drive without a washer in winter. Additions are questionable.
