Transmashholding has begun testing the new diesel train DP2D
Transmashholding has launched a fundamentally new diesel engine for dynamic testinga train Model DP2D, designed for non-electrified routes and suburban routes.
The train is made in a unique PUSH-PULL configuration, where the locomotive is located on one side, and the head car with a full-fledged control cabin is on the other. This architecture makes it possible to control both sides without turning.
The project is based on the idea of a modular approach: the train can be configured from two to six cars, including the head car.

In its maximum six-car configuration, the DP2D is designed to carry up to 636 passengers, including two specially equipped seats for people with disabilities.
The maximum speed reaches 120 km/h, which makes this rolling stock a promising solution for medium-length routes with variable passenger traffic.
Traction power is provided by the TEP70BS locomotive, assembled at the Kolomensky Plant, one of the oldest enterprises in the country. The carriages are built on the basis of the design solutions of the EP2DM electric train.
The train's interior is designed in a modern style, taking into account modern requirements for comfort. There are soft seats with increased space between rows, panoramic windows, air conditioning units with air filtration and disinfection functions, new generation USB ports at each seat, as well as multimedia panels and adapted information for visually impaired passengers.
The head and trailer cars are equipped with bicycle racks, an important element for routes with a high proportion of tourist traffic.
The tests are divided into several stages. At the first stage, which took place on the territory of the plant in Kolomna, specialists checked the operation of control systems, assembly accuracy, stability of power units, as well as the comfort and ergonomics of the driver's cabin.

The next step was to test the train with the head car on the territory of the DMZ, including testing all elements of the infrastructure from power supply to automatic diagnostic systems.
In the near future, the train will be sent to the VNIIZhT ring test site in Shcherbinka, where it will travel at least 5000 km, and then continue the program in Belorechensk, where high-speed and load tests will take place.
Completion of certification procedures is expected in 2025, after which new DP2Ds will begin to arrive in the regions of Russia.
