Single-engine E1000 AX aircraft delivers impressive performance and can land without human assistance

Aerospace Expo unveiled its latest innovation, the E1000 AX business jet, at the Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland, Florida, in early April. The new model features high performance and the highest level of automation of control processes.

This corporate aircraft In an emergency, it can land with the push of a button. In principle, it doesn't even really need this button.

Like in the movies

In feature films, of course, there have been situations with a favorable ending, when suddenly the pilot loses consciousness and a passenger who has never had such experience has to fly the plane. But in real life, such a happy outcome is most likely not possible. Not only landing, but even keeping the aircraft in a level flight is a practically impossible task for a novice.

Of course, many modern models have the ability to turn on autopilot - but it's not that simple either. You need to know how to do it.

Now, American manufacturer Epic Aircraft has equipped its experimental single-engine aircraft E1000 AX with a “peace of mind” package, which includes 25 additional functions.

All by myself

Most of the work on flight control in the new aircraft is taken over by the Garmin Autothrottle automatic power adjustment system together with the G100 NXi avionics. They control the throttles as efficiently as possible, setting the optimal power for lifting the aircraft into the air and landing it, and also successfully cope with abnormal emergency situations, such as a sudden drop in power, overheating, engine failure, etc. The system also controls the position of the flaps and chassis.

Independent airport selection and landing

However, the highlight of the program is Garmin Autoland – this system is responsible for the safe landing of the aircraft in the event of the pilot losing his ability to act – you only need to press the treasured button. If it happens that there is no one to activate it, or the passengers are simply confused, Autoland automatically takes control.

The program evaluates the situation, searches for the best airport nearby and heads to it along the safest route. During the movement, Autoland even tries to calm passengers and maintains contact with the air traffic control center.

Other Features

The E1000 AX also features an advanced, fully digital GFC 700 AFCS automatic flight control system. Using the full range of data available in the integrated cockpit systems, the software provides a high level of reliability while optimizing performance across the speed range.

And this is not the only advantage of the new "business" airliner. The model is equipped with a Pratt & Whitney PT6-67A power plant with a capacity of 1200 hp. It provides a maximum cruising speed of 333 knots (about 617 km/h). The altitude ceiling for the E1000 AX is limited to 10 meters, and the payload is 000 kg.

In addition, according to a company representative, the cabin and interior of the new product are unrivaled in terms of spaciousness and comfort. There is so much legroom that pilots up to 203 cm tall will be comfortable. The aircraft is also equipped with CoolView windows, which block more than 73% of infrared or thermal radiation passing through the windows.

Well, access to high-speed satellite Internet in a business jet is no longer surprising.
