
Rosatom and Avtotor will make electric cars and batteries
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that by 2030 the production of electric cars will be localized at the Avtotor Holding enterprise located in the Russian enclave (Kaliningrad). The company's plans include the production of the first trial batch of cars equipped with batteries manufactured by Renera. It, in turn, is a division of the Rosatom TVEL organization engaged in the development of fuel cells.
The start of production is planned for next year. At the same time, the ministry signed an agreement with the regional government on the joint development of environmentally friendly Transport. According to the agreement, it is planned to produce, in addition to electric cars, traction batteries consisting of Russian components, as well as electronic modules developed taking into account the most innovative technologies. The implementation of the agreement will be carried out in 3 stages:
Renera is going to open a plant near Kaliningrad that will make batteries for Avtotor for electric vehicles it produces. Battery production will start in 2025. The products of the new enterprise will find application not only in cars manufactured by Avtotor. Such batteries are used in electric buses, special equipment.
Among the proposed electric car models, the production of which may begin at the Kaliningrad plant, is the Kia EV6 hatchback, which was shown to the public almost a year ago. At home, it is implemented in 5 versions. Model GT2 with a pair of electric motors with a capacity of 585 "horses" is gaining "hundred" in 3,5 seconds and has a power reserve of 500 km. In a couple of years, Avtotor will start producing its own electric car capable of driving at least 400 km on a single charge. However, the cost does not appeal: at least 1,5 million rubles. Experts believe that in reality it will be higher.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation will soon run out of imported components - the problem with electronic components is especially acute. The emerging situation threatens to stop, slow down the production of not only high-tech electric cars, but also conventional cars with hydrocarbon engines. So the beginning of joint production is very useful.
