The new Volkswagen Passat has become cheaper and much simpler
Volkswagen has unveiled the updated 2025 Passat sedan in the 430PHEV Hybrid Business Edition version.
The main focus is on reducing the price car by eliminating a number of premium options. This allowed the model to be launched on the Chinese market at a starting price of about $29800 or about 2,44 million rubles.
Externally, the 2025 Passat retains the brand's recognizable style: a radiator grille with a blue PHEV emblem, chrome trim on the side windows and LED headlights with L-shaped taillight graphics create the image of a modern and neat business sedan.

At the same time, the model received simplified door handles and abandoned the external exhaust pipes. All this reduced the price and added visual purity to the body.
The sedan's dimensions are 4948 mm in length, 1836 mm in width and 1469 mm in height, and the wheelbase is 2871 mm. However, in order to save money, the manufacturer reduced the wheel diameter to 16 inches (previously it was 17) and carried out a large-scale revision of the interior.
The interior has been stripped of the electrically folding and dimming side mirrors, leather seat upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, and height-adjustable passenger seat.
Additionally, multimedia functions have been removed, including support for Apple CarPlay. Safety has also been optimized: there are no rear ultrasonic sensors, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, or millimeter-wave radars.
The power plant remains the same - it is a hybrid based on a 1,4-liter turbocharged engine in tandem with an electric motor. The total power is 210 hp, and the torque reaches 400 Nm.

The power unit is combined with a 6-speed preselective automatic transmission with dual clutch. The electric drive is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 13 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for 63 km.
Despite the reduced functionality, the 2025 Volkswagen Passat retains a key advantage: it is one of the most affordable models in the PHEV segment.
Given the growing demand for electrified transport In Asia and Eastern Europe, the car retains the potential to become a mass-market offering in the sedan market.
Thus, the 2025 Passat is not just another restyling – it is a symbol of the brand’s adaptation to new realities, when practicality, economy and environmental friendliness become more important than luxury options.
