Scania and MAN will not return to the Russian plant – they are preparing to produce domestic BAZs there

Former Scania and MAN plant is getting ready to restart. Production will soon be established there trucks BAZ. The company is already recruiting staff, and the vacancies include both assembly line workers and design engineers.


The car plant is being relaunched by AO Romanov. This joint-stock company belongs to the Almaz-Antey concern. Specialists are invited to work not only in St. Petersburg, where Scania and MAN were previously assembled, but also in Tolyatti, where a separate division is located.

This is an engineering center. Tolyatti was chosen for a reason. Because of the location of AVTOVAZ there, higher education institutions began to open in this city back in Soviet times, where specialized specialists were trained.


And in the 1990s, private enterprises began to appear in Tolyatti, engaged in the modification of serial cars. Currently, the engineering center of JSC Romanov is based in this city. The main tasks of the designers working there are to modernize existing models and develop new ones.

Let us recall that the all-wheel drive BAZ tractors for civilian use were presented back in 2023. These were prototypes, but they were already promised to be launched into production. By the way, the BAZ trademark was officially registered and allowed to be used only in April 2025.

JSC Romanov leases the former Scania and MAN plant located in Shushary. The production site has already been fully prepared. Moreover, it has been announced that all equipment has been purchased and technological processes have been debugged. All that remains is to recruit personnel and work can begin.

By the way, applicants are encouraged not to be afraid of the word "factory". This is a modern enterprise, where the main focus is on robotics and automation. And this means that specialists with experience working with such equipment are needed.


All-wheel drive trucks will be produced in four versions at once. The chassis will be the base version – it is suitable for installing special equipment that matches the load capacity.

A truck tractor will also be offered – it will suit companies that deliver cargo to the most remote regions. Thanks to its high ground clearance and all-wheel drive, the BAZ will easily pass where regular trucks get stuck.

A flatbed truck and a dump truck will be offered to builders. These experimental models are currently being tested at factory testing grounds and at FSUE NAMI.
