Production of two Russian cruise ships MPKS-L has started
The Samara River Passenger Company will soon receive two more cruise ships. We are talking about the MPKS-L project ships, the construction of which has already begun at the facilities of Nefteflot.
The cost of the ships is also known – each of them will cost 380 million rubles. Of course, these are preliminary figures. If the materials suddenly become more expensive, the estimate will have to be revised.
Nefteflot engineers have already started working. They are currently developing all the necessary documentation – design and working. The construction completion dates have also been announced – the ships are promised to be handed over to the customer in September 2026 – two at once. They will operate in the Samara Region – on standard routes.

Of course, the customer would not be able to find such funds on his own, especially since he is promised to receive six ships by the end of 2027. The financing is provided within the framework of a state investment project. Its goal is to revive Russian river shipping, or at least update the outdated fleet of motor ships.
Cruise ships of the MPKS-L project are single-hulled and closed. They have a two-tier superstructure, which allows them to carry up to 240 passengers. There are separate places for people with limited mobility.
The passenger seats in the cabin are arranged in three rows. There are folding tables in the backs, and small pockets for things. Life jackets for passengers are provided just in case. They are located under each of the seats, which is warned about before the flight.
Huge panoramic windows allow you to view the surroundings without getting up from your seat. They didn’t forget about TVs either – there will be two of them in the saloon of each cruise ship.
The MPKS-L project vessels are considered more comfortable and safer than the Om and Moskva class models. They not only have modern navigation equipment, but are also equipped with autonomous fire extinguishing systems.

MPKS-L are capable of "walking" on broken ice. Thanks to this feature, it will be possible to extend navigation.
All passenger ships of the MPKS project are designed to service local and suburban routes. The ships can be used not only on rivers, but also in coastal areas.
The length of the cruise ship is 32 meters. The width is 8,14 m. The ships are equipped with two Russian diesel engines manufactured by the Yaroslavl Motor Plant. The power units are known under the index YaMZ-536.
