Hydrofoil motor ships "Rocket" and "Meteor" - the pride of Soviet shipbuilding

Attempts to create such a technique have been made by engineers for decades. But only the talented Soviet designer Rostislav Alekseev brought the concept to life and developed the Rocket-1 model. The equipment was completed with high-speed diesel engines, which provided the necessary lift and high speed of movement - up to 60 km / h.

Mass use began in the 60s of the 20th century. The USSR had the largest fleet of ships of this type. The technique was in demand both in the Soviet Union and in the USA, Germany, Great Britain, and China. With a length of 27 m and a width of 5 m, the ship accommodated 64 passengers. The model was produced until the mid-60s, the assembly was carried out at several factories.

The name "Rocket" is used for all modifications with hydrofoils. Vessels were used for various purposes - passenger transportation, cruises, excursions. To cope with the increased passenger flow, the Meteor was created, it began to be produced in 1961. It had a capacity of 115 people, a cafe and a bar were equipped on board. The technique was widely used until the 2000s. Unfortunately, the difficult economic situation caused the curtailment of production, and most of the ships were sold abroad, where many copies are still in operation. Thus ended the history of the vessel, which has no analogues in the world so far. The video from the Pribambas TV channel has a lot of information about this technique.
