Russian aircraft engine PD-8 – it finally flew

The import-substituting regional airliner SJ-100 recently took to the skies. This event could have happened earlier, but alas – there were not enough engines. Now this problem is partially behind us. The flight was successful, so PD-8 aircraft engines can be installed on the regional airliner SJ-100 en masse. The new power units should replace the SaM-146. The latter were produced as part of a joint project between Saturn and Snecma. Alas – after the introduction of economic anti-Russian sanctions, they had to be abandoned. Perhaps this is for the best, because the new PD-8 engine is considered more modern. Plus, it is 100% assembled from Russian components.

The author of the channel "SkyShips" will tell about the difficult path of the PD-8. After all, this aircraft engine is closely connected with the SJ-100 airliner. Moreover, without one, there will be no other. Therefore, the production and development of the engine and Aircraft should be conducted in parallel. The blogger will tell about where and how the PD-8 is made. The viewers will also learn the design features. By the way, this engine would not have appeared without the PD-14. Only the latter is produced in Perm, and the PD-8 is being worked on in Rybinsk. Is it difficult? Not at all, and the author of the video will explain the nuances in detail, after which he will compare the new aircraft engine with its main competitors, including the SaM-146.
Do you think that PD-8 will go into production this year?
