Industrial diesel M756B-2 to be modified for Belarus near St. Petersburg
The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant has begun to modify the M756B-2 diesel engine for the needs of a large Belarusian enterprise.
Preliminary examinations of the power plant have already been completed, and KMZ specialists have begun the modernization process, which will take about two months.
The updated engine is expected to be called M756B-2D and will feature an improved control system.
The main innovation that is being implemented in the upgraded version is the electronic speed controller. It enables more precise control of the operating modes of the power plant.

The introduction of the regulator will improve efficiency, reduce wear of parts and adapt the engine to modern operating requirements.
Prior to this, KMZ had mastered the full-scale production of the basic version of the M756B-1D engine and was already producing parts for its maintenance.
Now the plant is ready to take a step forward and offer the customer an improved modification adapted to new operational tasks.
The M-756 engine, which became the basis for the modernization, produces 1000 hp and was widely used in Soviet railway equipment.
Typical diesel layouttrain DR1 assumed the presence of two motor cars with a power plant and a control cabin, as well as two or four trailers.
Now, decades later, the engine is undergoing a major upgrade that could extend the life of the rolling stock and make it more efficient to operate.

According to project manager Anton Porokhin, the contract for the supply of the power plant has not yet been signed, but the parties have reached a preliminary agreement on the modernization.
If testing of the updated engine shows good results, a long-term contract may be concluded.
Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant continues to strengthen cooperation with Belarusian enterprises. It offers modern engineering solutions and localized production of engines and components.
The modernization of the M756B-2D could become another successful step in expanding cooperation between the industrial complexes of Russia and Belarus.
