MV-650 – Soviet motorcycle with all-wheel drive

Two-wheeled vehicles were used relatively often in the army, especially during the Soviet Union. The MV-650 can be considered a bright representative of the segment. Motorcycle in a certain sense is a "militarized" version of the "Dnepr MT-10-36" familiar to the "adult" part of the audience. Their frames are identical, as are the power plants. The design of the MV-650 began in the 60s of the last century. However, you can still find a couple of copies from private individuals on free sale on classifieds sites. The average cost is 200-250 thousand rubles.

The key feature of the MV-650 can rightfully be considered the drive to the sidecar. It is implemented by means of a single-stage cylindrical gearbox. This design solution gave a huge advantage on poor surfaces and in difficult to pass places. Another interesting feature is the cardan drive with a pair of spiral-bevel gears. In its best years, the power of the 650-cc engine of this "MV" was 36 hp. It is paired with a four-speed "box" with a reverse gear. I wonder how this equipment behaves off-road now? You can see the MV-650 in action in the video on the YouTube channel "Ivan Zenkevich PRO cars", not forgetting to select the Russian-language audio track in the settings.
