The most economical model of AVTOVAZ returns to sales

The domestic automaker is resuming production of the bi-fuel version of the Lada Largus CNG. The modification "from the factory" can run on gasoline and methane. The start date of sales will be announced as soon as possible.

It is noteworthy that the return of the model implies not only a relaunch of production. The car received a number of improvements. During the break, AVTOVAZ engineers revised the concept of the gas cylinders arrangement.

Previously, they were placed in such a way that some of them were in the trunk. This solution had a negative impact on the volume of the latter. Now all three cylinders are located directly under the bottom, which allowed to expand the useful space without losing the reserve of autonomy.

The AVTOVAZ representative office also calculated the savings on the use of compressed natural gas. The use of this type of fuel allows to reduce costs by 2-3 times. The modified "Largus" with a full gas tank and gas cylinders will be able to travel up to 1 thousand km. For comparison, the standard modification without additional equipment travels only 640 km.

Of course, along with the fuel savings comes a slight loss of dynamics. According to official measurements of the brand-manufacturer, the standard 106-horsepower engine in methane mode will produce no more than 94 hp.

It is possible that in real operating conditions this figure will be somewhat lower. On the other hand, such configurations are often used in the small and medium commercial segment, where the dynamics car plays far from a leading role.

By the way, Largus CNG will soon not be the only car in the Lada family running on gas. At the end of last autumn, the company's vice president of sales reported that a new bi-fuel version of Vesta is expected to appear in the first quarter of 2025. The time is approaching, and it is quite possible that the brand's press center will officially present the new product in the near future.

At the Comtrans exhibition, a pre-production model of the Vesta Cross cross-station wagon on gas in the "top" Techno configuration was shown. Under the hood of the car is the already familiar sixteen-valve engine, which works in tandem with a variator. The project became a kind of experiment to test the demand for CNG modifications not only with budget, but also more advanced equipment.

Let us recall that not long ago AVTOVAZ reported a reduction in the number of Largus configurations produced in Izhevsk by almost half. At the moment, the basic Classic and premium Enjoy configurations remain available in the lineup.
