One step away from serial production – AVTOVAZ has completed testing of the Iskra
The largest Russian automaker has completed a series of tests of the upcoming addition to its model line. The Lada Iskra sedan has passed factory and certification checks, thereby confirming the reliability of the design and stable production quality.
As part of the testing, 98 prototypes of the model were created in various modifications. The cars were tested in several locations.
The main location was the AVTOVAZ testing ground. Some Iskra models were taken to the northern and mountainous regions of Russia to assess their reliability in various operating conditions.

In addition, Lada Iskra was tested using special equipment. The range of certification tests included the following tests:
✅ aeroclimatic chamber
✅ electromagnetic compatibility
✅ wind tunnel
✅ anechoic chamber
Special attention was paid to safety issues before Iskra was put into serial production. 84 crash tests were conducted at the testing ground.
According to the AVTOVAZ representative office, car confirmed a decent level of protection for the driver and passengers. The car significantly exceeds national safety standards. In addition, the model turned out to be at the B-class level according to foreign standards.
The above results were achieved by using active and passive methods. The complex includes the following technologies and devices:
✅ Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
✅ Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
✅ two "pillows"
During the design process, the model went through several stages of improvements. The changes are aimed at improving the car's handling, reducing noise and ensuring a stable connection to the telephone system.

The launch of serial production of Iskra will take place in April. The car is positioned as an intermediate link between Granta and Vesta. Later, Granta will be gradually abandoned.
According to preliminary data, the car will be available in three form factors - two station wagons, one of which is of increased cross-country ability (Cross), as well as a classic sedan. A 1,6-liter gasoline engine is responsible for performance.
The unit will work together with a five- or six-speed manual or robotic gearbox to choose from. Unfortunately, official information regarding the cost of the Iskra has not yet been received. According to preliminary data, the price tag for the new product will start at 1,5-1,6 million rubles.
