ZIL models that few have seen

At one time, ZIL was one of the most common brands of Soviet trucks. The enterprise, which until the mid-50s was proudly called "named after the leader", simply could not lag behind. Perhaps the ZIL-130 became iconic. For decades, this reliable equipment transported cargo at construction sites and other sites of the Soviet economy. Its modifications stood on the factory conveyor for almost half a century. A few years earlier, in 1958, serial production of the all-wheel drive ZIL-157 began. In the late 60s, it was replaced by the ZIL-131.

All these trucks are well known to our readers. But there were also those that for some reason did not go into production or were released in a very limited edition. For example, the ZIL-132 could have become the successor to the "one hundred and fifty-seventh", but it did not work out. Later, its developments came in handy during the creation of the "4972" model. Also, only at the level of a prototype of an experimental model, the history of another truck ended - the ZIL-4311. Its designers pursued a very good goal - to adapt military equipment for use in agriculture.
