Ladoga gets “wings” – Smolensk plant joins the work

Smolensk Aviation Plant (SmAZ) has joined the cooperation to create a new Aircraft TVRS-44. Work on assembling caissons has been launched at the enterprise. The first samples, which will be used for testing, are already in the production process.

The release of a full-fledged flight unit of this unit is planned for April of this year. In the future, the enterprise's work will be transferred to serial mode.

The wing for the Ladoga is being manufactured in the format of cooperation between SMAZ and the Ural Civil Aviation Plant. According to the concluded agreement, the domestic enterprise will release the debut batch of several kits.

During the official part of the launch of production, a representative of the regional government was present. He commented on the event:

The introduction of the SmAZ plant into the project is an important stage in the development of the region and the construction of Ladoga. The trust shown is a direct confirmation of the level of competence of our specialists, and also strengthens the position of the enterprise in the domestic aviation sector. SmAZ actively cooperates with the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, which helps to strengthen ties with leading industrial sites and expand production capabilities in the future.

Positive dynamics are also observed in other areas of the TVRS-44 project development. For example, at the moment, the Aviakor plant is completing the manufacture of the fuselage of the debut prototype of the aircraft.

According to the general director of the enterprise, the hull will be delivered by the end of the first quarter of this year. In the future, the Samara plant plans to become a key participant in the final assembly stages of the Ladoga.

Let us recall that the TVRS-44 project is being implemented by order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The machine will be used to provide regional air transportation.

The Ladoga is designed for 44 passengers and is positioned as a replacement for the outdated An-24 and An-26. Moreover, modern components allow the aircraft to compete with the following foreign analogues:

✅ ATR-42
✅ DHC-300
✅CRJ-100

The aircraft production group includes industrial sites from such regions as Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Taganrog, Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The final assembly of TVRS-44 will be carried out at the UZGA plant in Aramil.

The company "ODK-Klimov" from St. Petersburg is responsible for the supply of TV7-117-ST-02 power units. At the moment, the plant is completing the production of the first two units, which will soon be transferred to the final assembly shop.

According to the previously published schedule, the prototype of the Ladoga should be ready by early autumn. The aircraft's debut flight is expected next year.

The aircraft's production is regulated by the Comprehensive Aviation Industry Development Program. According to this document, the production volume of TVRS-44 will be 35 units by 2028.
