The ZIF-77 moped is not a bicycle with a motor

The simplest means of transport in the USSR, even in the early days, were Bicycles. But pedaling constantly is difficult, and the speed of movement leaves much to be desired. Therefore, the next stage is the installation of simple two-stroke outboard motors on bicycles. Such motors already went several times faster, and the owners of such vehicles did not get tired. True, they often broke down. Whatever one may say, the bicycle chassis is not designed for such speeds that even a small-capacity engine helped to develop. A breakdown on the move often ended in serious injuries, or worse. That is why classic mopeds appeared.

They also had pedals, but the frame was already reinforced. It was possible to move using the muscle power of the legs, but it was difficult. The classic single-speed moped, the "Gazulka" is the ZIF-77, which will be discussed on the "AUTO PLUS" channel. There are few of these left, and they are not particularly valued in Russia. Apparently, many remember that single-speed models were always considered "pensioner" models. Grandfathers often rode them on their own business. But the technology is interesting at least because it is the simplest. And the history of the development of Soviet mopeds can be traced by it.
Have you ever ridden such simple mopeds?
