"We won't give up so easily" - Shacman responded to the ban on the sale of dump trucks in Russia

Cargo market Transport was stirred up by a series of events. At the request of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Prosecutor General's Office conducted an inspection and suspended the sale of Chinese dump trucks and some other cars. Shacman and their SX3258 model got the worst of it.


The situation continues to develop. The company's representative office in Russia, Shakman Motors, has joined forces with dealers to "give an answer." The heads of the divisions have formed a working group to correct the discrepancies identified by Rosstandart.

During a recent unscheduled inspection of Shacman's activities in our country, the agency discovered a number of serious design flaws in the SX3258 dump truck. Literally within XNUMX hours, the Chinese company had to stop selling this model in the Russian Federation. Somewhat later, Rosstandart made a decision to suspend the vehicle type approval (VTA) of the dump truck. Now the main task of the Shakman Motors team is to restore the status of electronic vehicle passports (EPTS) of already imported vehicles.

During an emergency meeting of Russian Shacman dealers and representatives of the manufacturer, ways to resolve the current situation were discussed. At the end of the meeting, a program of measures to eliminate the identified deficiencies was developed. The group is confident that the successive implementation of the plan's points will allow the imported cars to be returned to service and the brand's reputation to be restored.

The CEO of Shakman Motors commented on the situation:


Let us recall that the certification problems affected not only the Shacman brand. According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, serious violations were found in other manufacturers as well. The state structure is currently considering tightening the certification requirements.


Experts suggest that the Russian market may gradually reorient itself towards domestic brands if the situation with Chinese by trucks will develop in a similar vein. Currently, the largest manufacturers in this segment are KAMAZ and MAZ.

This statement is confirmed by the cost of adapting Shacman equipment to the updated requirements of Russian standards. According to preliminary estimates, upgrading just one vehicle could cost 8-10 million rubles, which would significantly affect the profitability and competitiveness of products from China.

Despite the restrictions introduced, the ban on the operation of already registered trucks does not apply. Owners of previously registered vehicles can continue to use the equipment without hindrance. However, the creation of new EPTS and registration of the SX3258 model is currently impossible.
