“We pushed as a team” – how the “Sobol NN 4x4” passed the off-road test

Last fall, sales of the new all-wheel drive Sobol started. The car has changed significantly - there are noticeable differences in the design and equipment. The front suspension has become independent with forged levers. At the rear, there is a solid axle on springs. The ground clearance is 22 cm at the lowest point, and the permissible lateral roll has increased to 40 °. The performance of the new Sobol is provided by a 2,5-liter turbodiesel GAZ G-series. The engine has both advantages and disadvantages. The former include a peak torque of 420 Nm, and the latter is the fact that this is a "localized" version of the Chinese Foton.

It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The all-wheel drive is rigidly connected, has a transfer case with electronic control, a demultiplier and a rear differential lock. The manufacturer positions the model in the high-cross-country class, and the presented characteristics in a certain sense confirm this statement. However, it is one thing when a car is described "on paper", and quite another - in real off-road conditions. At the next meeting of the "King of the Mountain", the all-wheel drive "Sable" met with real conquerors of snow and difficult climbs.
