Production of new Russian sedans has started – Amberauto A5

The Russian Avtotor plant has begun serial production of a new model of electric cars – the A5. A batch of 1,1 thousand is already ready cars - it will go on sale soon.


This is a full-fledged serial assembly. In the future, the manufacturer promises to localize electric cars.

As for the cost, it is kept secret for now. The brand's official website offers to request an offer. Apparently, as soon as the electric cars go on sale, the price issue will be immediately resolved - it will be announced.


For now, we can only focus on the cost of the previous, trial batch. Then, electric cars, of which 200 were assembled, were offered for 3,4 million rubles. By the way, they were all sold for controlled operation.

As for the technical characteristics of the Amberauto A5, the car has only one alternative electric engine, developing 160 hp. The promised power reserve is impressive - up to 520 kilometers on a single charge.

The Avtotor company is going to expand its own dealer network. This will be done specifically for the start of sales of the new electric car.

As for the Amberauto A5, it is a typical and quite modern looking C+ class sedan. Naturally, this is not a Russian development, but another example of cooperation with the Chinese. This time, the JMEV Yi received nameplates.

This electric car is interesting primarily because it was developed by specialists from the joint venture Renault and JMC. The French were planning the expansion of Chinese-assembled electric sedans to EU countries.

Interestingly, they planned to sell Moblize Limo, which is what the version for Europe was called, only to taxi drivers. Although, the latter did not even have to pay for them immediately - the project was a credit one. Moblize Limo cost 1,5 thousand euros per month.


Even for EU taxi drivers, this was a lot, so the “distribution” of electric cars did not last long – from 2022 to 2023. During this time, only about 7 dozen cars were sold.

Now the Chinese have decided to try again – in Russia. Fortunately, the management of the Avtotor plant is committed to cooperation and even localization. As for the latter, in 2025 they plan to install their own gearboxes, electric motors and batteries.

By the way, the 520-kilometer range is calculated according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. If you drive actively, then in winter in Russia it decreases to 250-300 km. Therefore, installing a new battery will definitely not be superfluous. Taxi drivers will thank you for this.
