Shacman "has arrived" - Chinese dump trucks will no longer be sold in Russia

The representative office of the Shakman company is suspending sales of dump trucks with the index SX3258 of the N3G category. The reason for this event was an unscheduled inspection by the Prosecutor General's Office.


Russia's top watchdog investigates possible data discrepancy cars safety requirements. The latter are described in detail in the technical regulations of the Customs Union.

The Prosecutor General's Office became interested in the quality and reliability of Shacman dump trucks after receiving information about potential violations. A detailed description of the shortcomings was obtained thanks to testing of the SX3258 model at the NAMI testing ground.


It is located in the city of Dmitrov in the Moscow region. During testing, specialists identified significant shortcomings in the test sample.

Comments were made on the following parameters:

✅ discrepancy in noise level
✅ insufficient strength of the rear underride guard
✅ violations of the geometry of the side protection

Despite the temporary "freeze" of sales, the press center of the Chinese company states that this is not about the withdrawal of the vehicle type approval (VTA). The brand's management also emphasized that the tests involved a dump truck that was already in operation. For "fairness", in their opinion, it was necessary to take a new car for testing.

Later, Shakman Motors (representative office of the Chinese brand in Russia) supplemented the official response. According to their statement, they have no information about control checks at the NAMI testing ground over the past two years. The company's representative office was not invited to the tests, and they were not given the relevant protocols.

It is noteworthy that a series of inspections of cars from the Celestial Empire began after the statement of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The official insists on tightening quality control and certification requirements for such cars:


Let us recall that the Shacman SX3258 model demonstrated good sales results in Russia last year. A total of 5,2 thousand units were sold.


The Chinese brand managed to "get close" to the permanent leader KAMAZ in a relatively short period of time. In the dump truck segment, it even "overtakes" it in some places.

Currently, Shacman Motors is actively working to restore its reputation. Shacman does not plan to organize a recall campaign, but will create a "program to prevent harm associated with the circulation of their products."

What exactly this program includes has not yet been specified. However, the brand's management is confident that the temporary suspension of sales will not affect the company's position in the future.
