MS-21 to receive innovative engine
It has become known that specialists from the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center (Bashkortostan) have mastered an innovative technology that will be used in the creation of the PD-14 aircraft engine, namely its fan blades.
Due to the new, hollow design, this part of the power plant will weigh less, which, in turn, will provide the engine with high performance and fuel efficiency. However, some time will pass before the start of deliveries. A cycle of tests is ahead, based on the results of which a decision will be made on the use of the new blade in the aircraft turbofan engine.
Let us recall that the PD-14 was created from domestic components and is intended for installation on the Russian medium-range passenger airliner MS-21. Aircraft designed to accommodate between 150 and 211 passengers and delivers a new level of comfort for narrow-body aircraft. As recently reported, the first certification flights of this aircraft will begin in the coming months.
