Another Russian pickup truck has gone on sale – it has five seats and a large cargo compartment

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has started selling a new model. This is the Sollers ST8 pickup. The car has received a Russian "registration", because it is assembled at UAZ facilities.


The prices are already known - the base pickup with a petrol engine costs 2,82 million roubles. The diesel version will be more expensive, but not by much. car on heavy fuel you will have to pay 2,92 million.

The manufacturer calls the new model affordable. Of course, compared to the Lada Granta, it doesn't seem so. But it is a frame pickup with all-wheel drive.


In the basic configuration, Sollers ST8 is equipped with a 2,4-liter gasoline engine. Its power is 204 hp. The power unit was once made by specialists of the Mitsubishi brand, and then it was distributed as licensed copies all over the world. The engine works in conjunction with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel Sollers ST8 is equipped with a 2,0-liter power unit. Its power is only 136 hp. This is an option for those who are in no hurry and are used to saving fuel.

Even in the "top" trim levels, the pickup has an interior made only of artificial leather. But there are all-round cameras. The most expensive diesel in the line is the Luxe version. They ask 3,02 million rubles for it.

As for the origin of Sollers ST8, this model is based on the Chinese pickup JAC T8 Pro. But it was specially modified for Russia, both externally and technically. For example, it has its own set of engines and a different radiator grille. The latter, by the way, is chromed and gives the car a solid look - everything that Russian drivers love.

The headlights of the Sollers ST8 are xenon, and the fog lights, in addition to their main function, also illuminate the road during turns. The option is turned on automatically - you just need to turn the steering wheel by 45 degrees or more.


The two-row interior of the pickup truck is more than spacious for this class. And this also applies to the rear sofa. Thanks to the angle of the backrest, there is no feeling that you are sitting on a bench. With a height of up to 180 cm, passengers do not experience discomfort even when driving long distances. By the way, under the seat of the "sofa" there is a secret niche for various valuables that you do not want to leave in plain sight in the cabin.

The Sollers ST8 dashboard is unexpectedly fully digital. Most options are controlled via the multimedia system tablet. But for the most necessary functions, the manufacturer decided to leave a few physical buttons.

It is difficult to say whether the Sollers ST8 will be in demand in Russia. Although it is relatively affordable, pickups are not very popular in our country.
