S7 Group has shown the final version of "Tango" - serial production has begun

The annual NAIS exhibition continues in Moscow. Among the many stands was a new product from Spectra Aircraft, part of the S7 Group – aircraft "Tango".


The key feature of the aircraft is not only its relatively rare format for the domestic segment, but also the complete localization of production. Tango was created at the company's industrial site in the Stupino district. The active phase of the project began in the spring of 2023.

In addition to the Tango presentation, the S7 Group stand also featured the new APD-520 power plant. The unit is currently in the final stages of production and is undergoing testing before serial launch. The engine, developed by Russian engineers, will become an important part of the company's future aviation projects.


During the presentation, the S7 Group representative office also announced the readiness of mass production of Tango. The founder of the holding made the following statements regarding the new product:


Spectra Aircraft's next project will be a twin-engine aircraft. The aircraft will be prepared to operate in difficult weather conditions.

The model, which does not yet have an official index, is planned to be used in the Far North and the Far East. The aircraft will help transport correspondence and mail, and will also be used for emergency services.

Let us recall that Tango is a light four-seater training model. The main characteristics and dimensions of the machine are as follows:

✅ length - 8,2 m
✅ take-off weight – 1,1 tons
✅ landing distance – 550 m
✅ flight range - 1100 km
✅ speed – 245 km/h

Last autumn, the first flight of Tango took place at the S7 Aero training centre. The test programme included checking the operation of the power plant, rudders, as well as assessing stability and controllability.


The only "controversial" part of the boat is the engine. The Tango is equipped with a Belgian 5,2-liter UL Power 520is unit.

Nevertheless, S7 Group is working on creating a localized replacement for the foreign component. The new piston engine is already undergoing testing and is planned to be installed on serial models soon.

The Tango aircraft is used for training cadets of aviation schools. After the needs of the domestic educational segment are met, the manufacturer allows commercial use of the machine.
