Serial production of BAZ trucks to begin in St. Petersburg

Almaz-Antey Concern completes certification of new cargo aircraft car BAZ-S36A11 before it was launched into serial production at a plant in St. Petersburg.

The tractor, capable of carrying more than 20 tons of cargo, was created with the participation of talented engineers from the Obukhov plant and is intended to replace foreign analogues that have left the Russian market.

The new BAZ-S36A11 is equipped with a 422-horsepower turbodiesel engine YaMZ-6531 of the environmental class "Euro-5", produced at the Avtodiesel plant in Yaroslavl.

The transmission is a nine-speed manual gearbox YaMZ-1909 with a demultiplier, and the transfer case is manufactured at the plant in Naberezhnye Chelny.

The truck is almost entirely made up of Russian components: the plastic body parts are produced by Ural-Polymer, and the steel frame is supplied by Severstal.

Production is organized on a full-cycle basis, which will allow a significant number of vehicles to be produced annually for the domestic market.

The truck design features independent suspension on each of the three axles with a load capacity of 12 tons, which guarantees high cross-country ability both on federal highways and off-road.

Modern technological solutions make the BAZ-S36A11 competitive: the tractor is equipped with climate control equipment (climate control system) from Avgust Air Conditioning Plant LLC, navigation, telemetry and an autonomous cabin heater.

The cabin is equipped with a virtual instrument panel, which provides the driver with convenient access to adjusting almost any parameters of the truck.

The serial production project is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation as part of production diversification. The first batch of trucks is expected to roll off the assembly line in the summer of 2025.

The production will be launched at the former MAN plant in Shushary. Investments in the launch will amount to 12,5 billion rubles.

The launch of serial production of BAZ-S36A11 will be an important step in the development of the Russian truck industry. The new truck will not only fill the shortage of heavy trucks after the departure of foreign brands, but will also strengthen the position of Russian manufacturers in the segment of large-tonnage vehicles.
