Russian flying car IF 9 ready for flight tests
The development of an innovative vehicle has entered a new stage. A machine that combines the capabilities car and the aircraft is ready for its first flight tests.
The project belongs to the Filatov Design Bureau. It is a futuristic concept of movement in urban conditions.
The developers of "IF 9" assume its use both on the road and in the air. The creators of the prototype indicate the ability to bypass traffic jams as a fundamental advantage.

In terms of technical aspects, the key aspect for the car developers is safety. The designers paid special attention to this parameter. The cabin is designed as a capsule with a full-fledged emergency rescue system.
The software shell registers changes in sensor readings and, in the event of an emergency, "catapults" the driver. The cabin is equipped with parachutes, and deceleration mechanisms are also activated during descent. Due to the relatively low flight altitude, the latter have become a key part of the safety scheme.
The developers of IF 9 have a working prototype of a reduced scale, which has already passed ground tests. Despite the skepticism of some experts, the creators of the Russian flying machine are confident that the project has prospects. Moreover, it can become the foundation for the emerging segment Transport future.

Now the designers' task is to start test flights. They will allow an objective assessment of stability, controllability and compliance with the declared characteristics. If the tests are successful, "IF 9" will be scaled up and its debut application scenarios will be examined in more detail.
According to preliminary data, at the beginning of its "career" the first flying machine in Russia will be used in commercial and social spheres. The creators of the project are considering its use in emergency services and private transportation.
Unfortunately, little is known about the technical details of the IF 9. The car is driven by Russian-made electric motors.
Lithium-ion batteries will be responsible for their power supply. At the moment, DKB is looking for partners to supply batteries. Four propellers are used in the "air" mode. The body is made of lightweight composite materials.

The process of getting into the car deserves special mention. When you press a special button on the key fob, the lantern opens and the steps and the platform with the chair automatically extend. After taking the "working position", everything returns to "its" place.
In addition, the engineers of the Filatov Design Bureau have planned the introduction of unmanned technologies. However, the developments in this direction are still only "on paper".
Serial production of "IF 9" remains a long-term prospect. However, the very fact of the existence of such an extraordinary project demonstrates the readiness of our specialists to implement innovative solutions in the transport sector of Russia.
