Is it no longer profitable to import cars from Belarus?

As it became known, the government of Belarus has revised the recycling fee rates for new cars. Now the amount of this payment in the neighboring state will be the same as in our country after the last indexation. The order comes into force within 10 days from the date of its publication.

Accordingly, Russian citizens who were hoping to bring their car from there and, using the services of privileged categories of citizens, minimize their expenses on customs duties, will no longer have such an opportunity. They will now have to pay the recycling fee twice.

This in turn will provoke an increase in prices for cars imported through a neighboring state and will reduce the interest in this direction of “gray dealers”, which was previously “fueled” by the interesting difference in these fees.

How wonderful! Let's support domestic producers then. I'll take a "Bukhanka" for myself, paint it in Khokhloma style and go to Sochi!

— Evgeny Vasilyevich from Tver shares his plans

And why is Belarus worse? That's right, raise taxes, since in fair competition the domestic automaker is not able to win against foreign cars.

— says Nikolay from Armavir

All countries create favorable conditions for their manufacturers, so everything is fine. I wonder what models will be produced at Belarusian car factories? I hope they will not be on a tractor chassis. At least Chinese replicas, or something.

— joked Evgeny Martynenko from Rostov

I don't know about others, but I will continue to drive a Mercedes. There is enough money to pay duties, scrap metal, and repairs. However, I would like to see the economic justification for the payment - what is the basis for collecting such amounts?

— asks Sergey Leshchenko from Maikop

I haven't reached the stage of development yet where I'll just scrap the old car and go buy a new one. I guess I don't work enough. If they decided to raise the fee, they'll raise it, what's there to complain about. The main thing is that they don't ban driving cars older than 10 years, then it will be difficult of course.

Oleg Manachinsky from Taganrog sums it up.
