Suzuki has shown its first electric scooter

At the Indian exhibition Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Japanese company Suzuki showed the public its first ever electric scooter. The e-Access model will go into serial production in March 2025. Production will be set up at a plant in India.

The Suzuki e-Access is equipped with a single electric motor with a capacity of 5,6 hp. It is mounted on a pendulum suspension and accelerates transport up to a maximum of 71 km/h.

Compared to competitors like the TVS iQube or Ather Rizta, the e-Access's top speed is slightly lower, but remains quite suitable for city use.

The electric drive is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 3,07 kWh. According to the Indian IDC test cycle, the declared range is 95 km, but in real conditions the range may be less - about 85 km.

It takes 0 hours and 80 minutes to charge the battery from 4 to 30% when plugged into a standard outlet. Recharging to 100% takes longer, but Suzuki does not disclose exact figures.

The e-Access shares much of the design of the petrol Access 125, but has received a few updates. The front end features pronounced creases, and the headlight is positioned in the upper half of the front fairing.

The side panels are flat, and the rear part is designed in a non-standard style with an original arrangement of direction indicators.

The scooter's suspension includes a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock absorber. The wheel size is 12 inches, with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

The scooter has received full LED lighting, including a headlight, a taillight and turn signals. The design includes a digital display with the ability to connect a smartphone.

While Suzuki is keeping details under wraps, the screen will likely be either an LCD or a more advanced TFT with the ability to sync with mobile apps.

At the first stage, Suzuki e-Access will go on sale in India. In the local market, its main competitors will be Honda Activa e, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta and Bajaj Chetak. By the end of 2025, the company plans to start sales in Europe.

The electric scooter will be a major step in the electrification of Suzuki's model range. In November 2024, the company also showed the public the first electric car in its history – the e-Vitara crossover. It will hit the market in the spring of 2026.
