Rosmorport's fleet in Makhachkala has been replenished with a new dredger

The Makhachkala branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosmorport received a new vessel. It was the Kronshlot, a self-propelled dredger. The ship is not new, it already had experience in carrying out dredging work in the waters of the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal.

Now Kronshlot will be engaged in maintaining the optimal depth within the seaport in Makhachkala. Since the bottom gradually "builds up" in places with active shipping, it is important to deepen it regularly. This is exactly what dredgers like this one are used for.

The vessel was launched in 2016. Structurally, it is a soil-carrying dredger with a stern superstructure and three decks. The propulsion units are located in the bow and under the stern.

The dredger's hull is 60 meters long and 14 meters wide. Gross tonnage is 1663 tons.

The fuel supply is enough for 7 days of fully autonomous operation. The draft varies in the range from 2,95 to 4,25 meters depending on the vessel's load.

The power plant consists of two main diesel engines. Each of them develops a power of 1014 hp.

A total of 2028 horsepower is transmitted to two four-bladed propellers. Each of them is 2,2 meters in diameter and supports pitch control between the blades.

The vessel is equipped with a grab crane with a lifting capacity of 20 tons and a bucket capacity of 3,8 cubic meters. Photo: youtube.com

The maximum speed of the vessel is 10 knots or 18,5 km/h. Its main task is to deepen the bottom by removing soil with subsequent transportation and unloading.

The vessel can develop silt, sand and sandy loam at a depth of 4 to 20 meters. The maximum capacity of the ground pumps is 1000 cubic meters per hour.

A 1000 cubic meter hold is provided for collecting the extracted soil. The collected mass is removed via a floating or shore soil pipeline to a distance of up to 1500 meters from the vessel. In addition, the soil can be thrown directly onto the shore (up to 60 meters) using the Rainbow nozzle.

After the transfer of Kronshlot, the dredging fleet of the Makhachkala branch of Rosmorport increased to three vessels, and the total composition reached nine units.

The dredger will enhance the potential for maintaining navigation depths, ensure safety and uninterrupted navigation. This is especially important in the context of the urgent need to develop the region's transport infrastructure and increase cargo turnover.
