New ICE Will Give Electric Cars a Boost

The head of the famous Swedish company Koenigsegg Automotive AB, which produces sports cars cars, said that he managed to combine the incompatible. We are talking about the environmental friendliness of electric engines and the dynamics and power of traditional internal combustion engines. The new engine, demonstrated in January of this year at a closed event, Christian von Koenigsegg called the Free WF Light Speed Engine.

The unit uses the so-called free valve technology. It does not have a camshaft: it is replaced by pneumatic actuators. This allows for very precise dosing of the fuel-air mixture and adjustment of the valve timing. As a result, gasoline burns almost completely, which guarantees a low level of harmful emissions. The resulting engine is lighter, smaller in size, with the same efficiency as its classic "brothers".

However, the main advantage of the internal combustion engine developed by the company is the versatility of the unit, which is “omnivorous.” It can consume gasoline, ethanol, synthetic fuels, etc. Koenigsegg recalled that electromobiles do not solve the environmental problem: for example, it is still unclear how used batteries will be disposed of. There are also other inconveniences associated with the lack of infrastructure, the high cost of batteries, and the short range of mass-produced electric cars. What other advantages does the new "old" engine have, you will learn from the video on the OtkrytieSveta channel!
