The new engine, demonstrated in January of this year at a closed event, Christian von Koenigsegg called the Free WF Light Speed ​​Engine.

The unit uses the so-called free valve technology. It does not have a camshaft: it is replaced by pneumatic actuators. This allows for very precise dosing of the fuel-air mixture and adjustment of the valve timing. As a result, gasoline burns almost completely, which guarantees a low level of harmful emissions. The resulting engine is lighter, smaller in size, with the same efficiency as its classic "brothers".

However, the main advantage of the internal combustion engine developed by the company is the versatility of the unit, which is “omnivorous.” It can consume gasoline, ethanol, synthetic fuels, etc. Koenigsegg recalled that electromobiles do not solve the environmental problem: for example, it is still unclear how used batteries will be disposed of.
