AVTOVAZ received a patent for wheel rims for new Lada cars

AVTOVAZ has patented unique wheel rims developed for new Lada models. Their images have already been published in the public domain on the website of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, where anyone can see them.


The new alloy wheels differ in design, construction and purpose. The versions with four mounting holes were apparently developed for the budget Lada Iskra sedan. At the same time, the modifications for five fasteners were made for the crossover and minivan on the Vesta platform.

It is worth noting that the Iskra sedan was not equipped with wheels with a bolt pattern adapted to four mounting bolts, although such disks were used in the station wagon, including its cross-version Iskra SW Cross. This is confirmed by both the images attached to the patent and posted online last spring, and spy shots from the tests.


The station wagon and its modifications are built on the CMF-B platform, previously used by Renault, and now heavily localized due to Russian components.

They are equipped with naturally aspirated 1,6-liter engines producing 90 and 106 hp, and the transmissions include a six-speed manual transmission of Chinese manufacture and a CVT. Serial production of the Iskra will begin in April.

The Lada crossover and minivan based on the Vesta platform are currently known under the working indexes HGH and RGH. The SUV, which may be presented at the international economic forum to be held in St. Petersburg this June, will probably go into serial production no earlier than 2026. The three-row minivan, designed to replace Largus, will be released this year as a prototype.

It should be noted that the new discs are not only an attempt to diversify the design cars, because their role in the design of the car is not limited to the decorative function. They also affect the efficiency of the cooling of the brake system, which directly determines the safety of the movement.


The new wheel disks reflect the desire of the AVTOVAZ enterprise to integrate modern technologies and original design solutions. When studying the published images, one can notice the continuity of new developments in relation to old products, but at the same time in a more modern design.
