Cormorant I – a yacht, a mega-catamaran or just an expensive “Cormorant”?

Human psychology is an amazing "thing". Sometimes in winter we want to be at sea, under the warm rays of the sun. Or even better, for example, on a yacht.

We suggest you fantasize together, or simply broaden your horizons by examining one of the most interesting representatives of this marine "family". Today, Cormorant I came into view.

Exterior and equipment

The vessel was launched in 2011. Then, after eight years of operation, it underwent a renovation process. The owner company calls Cormorant I a "Mega-Catamaran", and the maritime route monitoring services call it a yacht.

By the way, behind such a poetic name "Cormorant-First" hides the name of a sea bird - a cormorant. This is how the "name" of this vessel is translated.

Either way, Cormorant is designed for 16 passengers. In addition to guests, there are 10 more crew members on board, responsible for the technical part, entertainment and food.

The parameters and characteristics of the yacht are as follows:

✅ length - 33 m
✅ width - 12 m
✅ draft - 1,4 m

The catamaran has three decks and many public areas. For example, on the upper "floor" there is a jacuzzi, a dining area, five pairs of sun loungers and even a small diving board.

The middle deck is dominated by living quarters. There are four cabins on this level. The aft section features a sanitary area, a bar, and dining tables.

The lower "tier" repeats the layout of the middle one. The list of differences includes only the absence of a front bridge, as well as a lounge area with a small library.

Interior

The yacht has a total of eight cabins, two of which are luxury. The standard room is 24 sq. m. It is designed for two guests and offers all the amenities for their stay.

The basic equipment includes a double or two single beds, panoramic sliding windows, and a bathroom. The furnished "balcony" deserves special mention.

The deluxe rooms are larger at 14 sq. m and feature expanded equipment. It includes a living area with a sofa and a TV with a multimedia system. On the other hand, who would think of watching a black box when such a view opens up from the deck?

Power point

The yacht's main driving force is Cummins diesel engines. The Cormorant I is equipped with a pair of units with the QSM11 index.

The model can be called popular not only in the marine "theme", but also in many other areas. This engine is found in construction and agricultural machinery (loaders, excavators), as well as in industrial equipment.

The main characteristics are as follows:

✅ number of cylinders - 6
✅ cylinder arrangement – in-line
✅ working volume - 11 l
✅ maximum power – 400 hp
✅ peak torque – 1898 N*m
✅ maximum speed – 2100 rpm
✅ maximum speed - 14 knots

The fuel injection system is a common electronic circuit of the Common Rail type. The unit is also equipped with a turbocharger with intermediate air cooling (intercooler).

Scope

Currently, the yacht Cormorant I is on the balance sheet of Royal Galapagos. Its main activity is the organization and implementation of premium tours of the Galapagos Islands.

The shortest cruise lasts 4 days and includes visits to the following islands:

✅ San Cristobal
✅ Hispaniola
✅ Floreana (Ecuador)
✅ Santa Cruz

The cost of such pleasure starts from 2700 dollars (275 thousand rubles). This amount includes transfer, accommodation, food, visiting tourist places.

Of the "interesting" things, it is also worth highlighting the additional equipment. We are talking about wetsuits and snorkeling gear.

Simply put, you won't have to pay for anything during the cruise, all "money issues" are resolved on shore, before departure. Of course, the cost of getting to the airport of Baltra Island must also be added to the above minimum cost.

In short, a few days of vacation on the "Mega-Catamaran" with a visit to a unique volcanic archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is clearly not intended for the general "public". However, among vacationers, Russians are not such a rarity. After all, the trip will definitely be unforgettable.
