Rostec Delivers 14 Mi-8MTV-1 Helicopters to Russian Airlines

Holding "Helicopters Rossii, which belongs to the Russian corporation Rostec, has transferred 14 new Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters for use by several Russian airlines. All the machines were manufactured at the Kazan Helicopter Plant (KVZ).

The delivery of flight equipment was only a small part of a large state contract with the GTLK company. Under the contract, it is planned to manufacture a total of 86 helicopters of this model. All of them will be provided to airlines to perform various tasks, including cargo and passenger transportation, and sanitary operations.

10 of the 14 transferred machines have already been sent to the fleet of UTair Helicopter Services. It is known in the industry as the leader in the number of Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-8AMT helicopters in its ownership, and does not plan to stop there.

Another 4 units are evenly distributed between four Russian airlines that rely specifically on helicopter equipment.

The Mi-8MTV-1 is a multi-purpose aircraft with a payload capacity of up to 4 tons. When equipped with external fuel tanks with a capacity of 915 liters, the maximum flight range without refueling increases to 1050 km.

Thanks to such high autonomy, helicopters are becoming extremely popular in such hard-to-reach regions as the Far East and the Arctic.

The equipment is fully adapted for operation in low temperatures and strong winds. Such helicopters can take off and land on unprepared sites. In addition, the equipment can be equipped with special medical modules to perform medical missions.

In December 2024, two Mi-8MTV-1 demonstrated reliability and high performance by making a record flight from Kazan to Magadan. Both aircraft covered a route of more than 6000 kilometers in four days.

In 2025, helicopter deliveries will continue both under contracts concluded with GTLK and for third-party customers. Thus, the Mi-8MTV-1 continues to confirm its effectiveness and demand in the domestic aviation market.
