New sea terminal in Kaliningrad received first ferry from St. Petersburg

On January 18, the first ferry, which arrived directly from St. Petersburg, docked at the new sea terminal located in Pionerskoye, Kaliningrad Oblast. It was a cargo-passenger vessel called "Antey", which brought with it not only passengers, but also 17 pieces of equipment.


The arrival of the first ferry was an important step in the development of maritime communications between Russia and the Kaliningrad region, which is territorially separated from it.

The Antey is a double-deck Ro-Pax ferry that can carry up to 94 cars at a time. TrainIts maximum carrying capacity with passengers and supplies is 7811 tons, and its passenger capacity is 149 people, accommodated in 59 comfortable cabins.

The ship set off on its maiden voyage from the port of St. Petersburg, and the return trip to the northern capital is scheduled for the following day, January 19. This time, the ferry will take on board 10 people (in addition to the crew) and 32 automobiles. TransportThe ship will also carry 4 passenger cars, 26 trailers and 2 trucks. car.

The flights will be carried out weekly, providing stable communication between the regions. The next ferry departure from St. Petersburg will be on January 23. Such regularity will strengthen transport and economic ties between the Kaliningrad Region and the rest of the Russian Federation.

The sea terminal, despite the fact that its construction has not yet been completed, is already demonstrating high throughput. In parallel with the arrival of the Antey at the railway-automobile ferry complex in Baltiysk, unloading on the ferry Marshal Rokossovsky was completed.

This highlights the possibility of simultaneously servicing two large ferries, which plays a key role in ensuring transport security in the region.

As part of the construction, work is being carried out under supervision on the second berth, as well as on the fencing structures and auxiliary buildings of the coastal part of the terminal.
