Belarusian MotoVeloZavod Shows Electric Motorcycle – 80% Localized and 150 km Range

Belarus will soon have its own electric motorcycles. The prototype is already ready and demonstrated. The manufacturer claims that the localization of this sample is more than 80%.

At the same time, they announced several technical characteristics. The prototype, which has not yet even had time to be called by its own name, will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h. And its running battery will be enough for 150 km of travel.

In the future, it is planned to release several more prototypes, which will be improved. The management of MotoVeloZavod noted that they will try to increase the mileage. This will require new batteries.

You just need to understand that a motorcycle is far from being car. If for the latter an extra couple of hundred kilograms will not play a big role, then for the bike it is important.

Even a 10 kg increase in weight can create serious problems. In some cases, the frame will have to be redesigned. And a more capacious running battery almost always means an increase in weight.

The second nuance is the speed and status of an electric motorcycle as a means of transport. If the vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h, then it definitely has no place on the sidewalks. Moreover, the speed of personal mobility vehicles in this country is limited to 25 km/h.

It turns out that the new electric bike is a full-fledged motorcycle. Accordingly, you will need a license for it. This nuance alone will affect demand. The only thing that can help is an interest-free installment plan. By the way, there is almost such a preferential loan in Belarus, it applies to domestic goods, including the products of MotoVeloZavod.

The electric bike was created in close cooperation with the Academy of Sciences. Judging by the announced 80% localization, locally produced components and parts were used in the assembly process.

Although, if you look closely, it immediately becomes clear that the electric bike is based on the best-selling Minsk D4 125 model. At least, it looks like it. But, given that this is a prototype, it is very possible that the engineers were simply focusing on the production bike.

By the way, it is the Minsk D4 125 that sells best. It's all about its price - they ask for this motorcycle from 4 Belarusian rubles (200 thousand Russian). The manufacturer is going to increase assembly volumes.

Localization of new models will continue. They promise that soon most of the units and assemblies of the Minsk D4 125, except for the engine and gearbox, will become Belarusian. And they plan to start producing their own engine.
Would you buy such an electric bike?
