Kaluga plant begins assembly of Haval M6 from vehicle kits

Last autumn car received an updated OTTS certificate. Today, the first vehicle kits are already at the plant. At first, the crossovers will be assembled using the "screwdriver" method - a large-unit method. However, in the future, it is planned to localize production - to organize, at a minimum, the stamping of body parts, their welding and painting.


Until 2022, the Kaluga plant assembled the well-known Peugeot Partner in Russia. At the end of 2023, information was released that the plant, which once belonged to a joint venture owned by Stellantis and Mitsubishi, was setting up a conveyor. They tried to organize mass production of Citroen C5, Peugeot 4008, assembled in China. At the same time, the French EMP2 automobile platform was used.


There has already been an official announcement about the transfer of the production site for the assembly of Haval M6 from the village of Kamenets (Tula Region, industrial park "Uzlovaya") to Kaluga. The new owner of the plant "PSMA Rus" stated that at least 50 thousand Great Wall models will be produced this year - it was about several modifications of Haval. Serious preparation of the site in Kaluga was carried out - factory capacities and premises were reserved, just for the acceptance of 50 thousand vehicle kits.
