Chevrolet Spark is back – just as compact, but as an electric crossover

The American brand Chevrolet has decided to revive the compact model Spark. Only now it will be an electric crossover. The "essence" will also change carIf before he had a Korean "pedigree", now it will be Chinese.


It is already known that Baojun Yep Plus has been chosen as a "donor". The Chinese side has agreed to use the model under the Chevrolet brand. It is profitable for them, because the previous generation Spark was sold in many countries, primarily developing ones.

The new Chevrolet Spark will appear in the showrooms of official dealers of the American brand in 2025. There is a possibility that assembly will be set up in one of the countries neighboring Russia – Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan.


And this means that in the future, electric crossovers will appear in our country. Even if not officially, but in large quantities. Moreover, they promise to make the Chevrolet Spark as affordable as possible.

Externally, the new Chevrolet will almost completely copy the Baojun Yep Plus. The crossovers will be distinguished only by the nameplates. This model was not chosen by chance - after all, although it is produced in China, it is at a joint venture of SAIC and General Motors. And the latter concern owns the Chevrolet brand.

Sales of the Spark electric crossover are planned to be launched first in Latin America. By the way, test cars have already been spotted on local roads there several times. Then sales of the model will start in other countries, primarily developing ones.

This is not the first time General Motors has worked with SAIC. For example, the current Chevrolet S10 Max, Captiva and Groove are rebadged Chinese models from Maxus and Baojun.


As for the Yep Plus electric crossover, it is a fairly “fresh” car even for China. Its sales in China started in 2024. The model has a square design and compact dimensions. For example, the length of the Baojun Yep Plus body is only 3,99 meters.

You shouldn't expect high cross-country ability from an electric crossover either - it's more of a city model, just stylized as an SUV. Its ground clearance is only 150 mm. But the massive bumpers give the model a brutal appearance.

The revived Chevrolet Spark received one electric motor located in the front. This power unit develops 102 hp. The power reserve is declared at 401 km. Everything is completely identical to Baojun Yep Plus.
