Tutaev plant has launched serial production of the latest diesel engines

TMZ, part of the KAMAZ holding, is launching production of new V8 engines. The series will debut with two power units – TMZ-8801.10 Progress and TMZ-8483.10 Etalon.


The engines began to be developed in 2023. The first prototypes have already visited major exhibitions in the country. The series is designed for heavy equipment and is fully ready for mass production.

One of the first cars to receive the new engine will be tractor K-7M "Kirovets". The latter is scheduled to be released before the end of the calendar year.


The concept of the motors is based on the well-proven TMZ-8481 platform, but with a serious modernization of the design. Its brief characteristics are as follows:

✅ type – V-shaped, 8-cylinder
✅ fuel equipment – ​​fuel injection system with mechanical regulator
✅ working volume - 17,2 l
✅ rated power – 322 hp

For the new generation of engines, TMZ specialists have developed a fundamentally new gearbox. This unit ensures the transmission of torque to the fuel pump.

According to the TMZ representative, the design change is aimed at adapting to the use of Common Rail systems. The latter require a higher rotation frequency.

The engine with the "Progress" index can boast of the equipment produced by the domestic plant AZPI. It is made according to the CR type and supplemented by a modern M240 control unit.

The latter is a functional alternative to such systems as Bosch EDC7 and EDC17. They are manufactured by the company "ABIT", located in St. Petersburg.

This tandem significantly increases torque at low speeds, which is especially important for special equipment. In addition, the innovation also reduced noise, vibration and heat generation.


The Etalon power plant, in turn, is equipped with YAZDA fuel equipment and an M230 control unit. The latter is also produced in the Northern capital and is designed for systems with a traditional fuel supply type.

Among other features of the new power plants, it is worth highlighting the cast-iron cylinder heads, as well as the improved piston group and poly-V drive. No less significant advantages of the Progress and Etalon include the unification of some parts with previous models of the Tutaev plant.

The TMZ representative office will announce detailed technical specifications of the engines closer to the release of the first batch. At the moment, it is known that the engine power is in the range from 370 to 465 hp. The resource is identical to previous models and reaches the mark of 10 thousand hours.
